About Ayodhya
Ayodhya is one of the world’s oldest living cities, revered as the birthplace of Lord Shri Ram. Steeped in the legacy of the Ramayana, its ghats, temples, and sacred Sarayu river echo centuries of devotion, sacrifice, and spiritual discipline. Ayodhya is not merely a destination—it is an experience that awakens faith, quiets the mind, and connects the present to an eternal past.
Ayodhya is one of the oldest living cities in the world and a sacred centre of Hindu civilisation. Revered as the birthplace of Lord Shri Ram, the city has stood for millennia as a symbol of dharma, devotion, and righteous living.
Resting on the banks of the holy Sarayu River, Ayodhya is woven deeply into the Ramayana and India’s spiritual consciousness. Its temples, ghats, and ashrams are not monuments of the past, but living spaces of prayer, discipline, and tradition. Every sunrise over the river and every aarti at the ghats continues a rhythm that has endured across ages.
With the consecration of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in 2024, Ayodhya has entered a renewed chapter—honouring its ancient roots while welcoming pilgrims from across the world.
Ayodhya is revered as the sacred Janmabhoomi of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram, the embodiment of dharma and righteous living. Ayodhya represents ideal leadership, justice, and moral order, rooted in the values of the Ramayana.
From ancient shrines to newly consecrated temples, Ayodhya remains a living spiritual landscape—not a historical relic. With the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Ayodhya has re-emerged as a spiritual beacon for devotees worldwide.

Sacred Celebrations
Ayodhya celebrates faith not only through temples, but through festivals, performances, and sacred journeys that bring the Ramayana alive.
Celebrating the return of Lord Rama after 14 years of exile, Deepotsav is organised a day before Diwali. Lakhs of diyas illuminate the ghats of Sarayu, accompanied by grand aartis, Ramleela performances, heritage walks, and cultural programs. Devotees from across the world gather to witness this divine spectacle.
Celebrated in the month of Chaitra, Ram Navami marks the birth of Lord Ram. Temples across Ayodhya are decorated, and Ramleela performances are organised widely, drawing thousands of devotees during Navratri.
Observed during the holy month of Shravan, idols of Rama, Sita, and Lakshman are placed on decorated swings. Processions move towards Mani Parvat, celebrating divine playfulness and devotion throughout the month.
Ram Lila is the dramatic re-enactment of the Ramayana, traditionally attributed to Saint Tulsidas. Performed over several days during Sharad Navratri, it culminates in Vijayadashami, symbolising the victory of good over evil. Ayodhya is renowned for its mandali-style Ram Lila, blending dialogue, music, kathak dance, and elaborate costumes.
